The Opportunity:
HTM Insurance currently has an exciting opportunity for an exclusive insurance Agent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the insurance needs of current customers through the Pearson Insurance Agency, as well as developing new leads. There will be a strong focus on agricultural insurance products, so a background in agriculture will be an asset.

About Pearson Insurance
Pearson Insurance was founded by Ronald Pearson in 1986. He started off as an agent for Hamilton Township Mutual (HTM) Insurance Company which is located in Cobourg, Ontario.
Selling residential, automobile, commercial, and farm insurance the company grew and within a year welcomed Tim Pearson, Ronald's son, as an agent.
Pearson Insurance Limited now has three generations of family members working in the business and has been growing at a healthy pace.
Key Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of the Agent are; determining the acceptability of risks, providing quotes, suggesting new coverages, and keeping a positive relationship with all the clients and prospective clients. This role deals with all lines of business including farm, commercial, auto and property.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to customers via web, text, email, telephone, fax, and mail; provide information and resolve issues
- Service existing clients
- Prospect for new business and assessing insurability
- Provide quotes on new and existing files
- Provide insurance advice to clients and prospective clients, as well as cross sell and up sell
- Participate in company meetings and make suggestions for improvements in policy wordings, rates and guidelines, as well as process improvements to quality of service provided
Requirements
- Post-secondary education
- Agricultural background
- Superior customer service skills
- Agent license or ability to obtain within 3 months
- Valid driver’s license with vehicle
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience
- Previous insurance experience considered an asset but not necessary
- Willing to take continuing education
- CIP or CRM designations considered an asset and obtaining them in the future a requirement
- Ease in using software such as Word or Excel and learning a custom insurance software program
